Wisconsin Spudmobile to be at Barn Dance and BBQ Supper Fundraiser Event

The Wisconsin Spudmobile will be welcoming visitors of all ages to learn about the state’s potato and vegetable production on September 27 from 6-9 p.m. at the Barn Dance and BBQ Supper Fundraiser in Shawano. This state-of-the-art updated mobile education vehicle focused on potato and vegetable production takes visitors on a journey from the farmer’s field to the dinner plate.

“Wisconsin Potato and Vegetable Farmers are excited to bring this mobile education and interactive experience to people of all ages,” says Dana Rady, Director of Promotions, Communication and Consumer Education of the Wisconsin Potato & Vegetable Growers Association (WPVGA).

Through hands-on exhibits and eye-catching graphics, Spudmobile visitors will learn how farmers are stewards of the land and how they incorporate the latest technologies into their agricultural practices. When visiting the Spudmobile, guests will learn about various varieties of potatoes grown in Wisconsin, how they are planted and harvested, the nutritional facts about potatoes and some statistics about America’s favorite vegetable. Kids will be completely engaged as they play games on the interactive touch table the Field to Fork exhibit and the updated interactive grower map to name a few.

And what better place to share some fun and entertainment about agriculture than at a fundraiser? The live music and dancing event will be held at Koeller Century Farm in Shawano (W7950 Oak Ave) and will benefit Shawano Pathways, an organization that works to make Shawano more bikeable and walkable, the Boys and Girls Clubs of Shawano, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeastern Wisconsin, and SAM25, an organization that helps people out of poverty.

John and Nancy Koeller, owners of Koeller Century Farm and hosts of the upcoming event say they are happy to welcome the Spudmobile to their farm. “We enjoyed seeing the Spudmobile at the Stevens Point Green Circle Walk a few years ago and immediately thought of it for a visit to the Barn Dance. It took a while to get on the schedule, so it’s exciting that we can have this new attraction this year.”

The Wisconsin Spudmobile was developed by WPVGA, which is a non-profit organization that represents and promotes the state’s 300 potato and vegetable grower members and affiliates. The Spudmobile makes frequent appearances at locations throughout the Midwest including stops at schools, community events and retailers who provide Wisconsin potatoes to their customers.
