The Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced the purchase of dehydrated potato flakes from Basic American, Inc., headquartered in Walnut Creek, California. The contract is for distribution to the child nutrition and other related domestic food assistance programs for Fiscal Year 2018.
112,500 cases of flakes will be shipped from the Basic American plant in Blackfoot, Idaho from July 1 to September 30, 2018 for a total value of $1,351,125, according to the USDA.
Stutz Packing Company in Indio, California was also a winner in the same flakes solicitation for business in April. The Stutz contract is for 25,000 cases for a total value of $322,375.
