Last week, National Potato Council (NPC) CEO Kam Quarles joined the other co-chairs of the Specialty Crop Farm Bill Alliance for meetings on the Hill to discuss the Farm Bill and economic relief with the leaders of the Senate Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee.
During separate meetings with Chairman John Boozman (R-Ark.) and Ranking Member Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), the leaders communicated their strong desire to complete the Farm Bill this year. Additionally, both leaders expressed great sensitivity toward the economic circumstances facing America’s specialty crop farmers and their commitment to delivering a meaningful relief package to address their situation, along with broader challenges across all of U.S. agriculture.
“Its very clear that there is strong bipartisan support both for completing a Farm Bill this year and efficiently delivering a meaningful economic relief package to specialty crops,” said Kam Quarles, NPC CEO.
