Online Course Teaches Kids About Potatoes

University of Idaho Extension is offering a free online program to help increase agriculture literacy among youth. The ePotato curriculum, designed for students in grades 3-6, covers topics such as potato production, popular varieties and their uses, what makes Idaho well suited for growing spuds, potatoes’ nutritional components and health benefits, and ways to use potatoes to prepare healthy and tasty meals. The curriculum consists of five lessons that incorporate hands-on activities with interactive online elements. So far, more than 100 students and 60 4-H members have participated in the program.
