Upper Peninsula of Michigan Seed Potato Grower Richard Skogman Passes Away at Age 62

Seed potato grower Richard Skogman, of Skogman Seed Farm, died unexpectedly on Friday, Aug. 23, 2024. He was 62. Skogman Seed Farm is located in Dickinson County in the Upper Peninsula.

“Richard was an industrious and resourceful seed grower and we will miss his wisdom, friendship, and contributions to our group,” said Damen Kurzer, director of the Michigan Seed Potato Association. 

Visitation and funeral services are scheduled for Friday, Aug. 30 at Zion Lutheran Church, W4703 Metropolitan Road, Felch MI 49831. Visitation will take place from 9 to 11 a.m. Central Time. The funeral will commence at 11 a.m. Central Time. There will be a luncheon afterward. 

Richard’s son, Matt Skogman, is the current operator of Skogman Seed Farm and a member of the Michigan Potato Industry Commission.
