Potato Power Dominates at PMA 5K

The potato industry showed just how well potatoes can power performance at the PMA Foodservice Race for Talent 5K in Monterrey, CA.

The Idaho Potato Commission team led by Don Odiorne took the prize for best Team Attire with their bright orange running shirts with the tag line “Exercise? I thought you said Extra Fries” on the back.  Christie Wood the Potatoes USA Foodservice account manager at Sterling Rice Group sped home in an impressive 20:27 for second place female and seventh overall.

John Toaspern, Potatoes USA CMO, was the second most powerful potato finishing in a time of 21:56 to claim 2nd in the male 50 – 59 age group.  The Powerful Potatoes were not done as the IPC dominated the 60 – 69 age group with Karlene Hardy winning the female division and Pat Kole the male division while Terrance Lindeaur took second in the male 40 – 49 age group.  For complete results go to www.growingtalentbypma.org/programs-and-events/5k-race-for-talent-foodservice.
