The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) invites offers to sell Frozen Vegetables pursuant to the AMS Master Solicitation for use in the National School Lunch Program and other Federal Food and
Nutrition Assistance Programs.

Bids are due 5/25/2020 at 1 p.m. CST.

Acceptances will be announced by midnight, June 8, 2020. Deliveries are to be made between October 1, 2020 – June 30, 2021.

The solicitation has 676,830 total cases of frozen vegetables, 410,520 of which are frozen potatoes. Potatoes represent over 60% of the total buy, that also includes carrots, broccoli and sweet potatoes.

In a press release the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC), made the following statement:

This is a solicitation for frozen potato products. It will help unclog the pipeline. When you combine this with the $50 million purchase of potato products last week and the $1.2 billion of the Farmers to Families Box Food Program, there are steps being taken to reduce the homeless potato problem.

IPC along with NPC and the other state potato organizations have submitted language through our Congressional Delegation for use in the next “Phase 4” COVID – 19 legislation. This language would provide additional funding for purchases of fresh, frozen and dehy potato products.
