McCain Foods USA Inc. is making a $300 million investment in its Othello, Washington, potato processing facility. The 170,000-square-foot expansion will add another battered and conventional French fry processing line and bring an anticipated 180 new jobs to the community. The added capacity will require approximately 11,000 additional acres sourced from potato growers in the region.
“This investment signals confidence in Washington, its potato growing community and its skilled workforce availability,” said Jeff DeLapp with McCain.
The expansion also brings environmental efficiencies, reducing the facility’s carbon footprint while doubling its production, according to the company.
Construction began in May and is expected to be complete in early 2021.
