Just outside of Idaho Falls on a beautiful plot of land the SunRain Varieties greenhouses sit. Today we got a tour inside to see their facilities.
Utilizing several different greenhouses they are able to grow many different varieties. They said that in the breeder stage probably less than 1% make it to the next stage. From there about 10% make it to the final process where the variety is named and marketed for production. The reason for so few making it through is the reason that SunRain is prized as a valuable partner in the industry, quality.
They make sure they have the best product that can be grown. They do consistent research to find out what consumers want, they do consistent to find out what the growers need. And they work to find a balance.
They even have their own test kitchen to prepare the potatoes and see how they turned out.
