In November 2009, the world was limping back from the global economic crisis of 2008. That didn’t stop Taylor Swift from shooting up the charts and winning many accolades from the Country Music Association Awards and the American Music Awards.

Meanwhile on the cover of Potato Country, we had the Van Dyke family. Growing in the Townsend and Manhattan areas of Montana, they grew several different varieties of potato seed.

In this piece they mention that they had a pretty bad frost during harvest and were worried about losing up to 20% of their crop. In fact, they were featured in a Bozeman Daily Chronicle story talking about the poor weather. Read that story here.
